Harness vs collar – What’s best for your dog
Not sure whether you should get a harness or collar for your pup?
People have different views on whether their pet should wear a collar or a harness, so let’s break it down with a couple of reasons and favourites.
Harnesses are a preferred method to attach a leash to your dog. As it’s attached to the animal’s core part of their body that means it’s a more comfortable and safer. It reduces pulling and provides you with more control over your pet. For smaller types of dogs, it is better option, as they are delicate, and it reduces strain on their neck.
So why use a collar you may ask? Well, if you are planning to leave the collar on your dog all the time it is a more comfortable option as well as providing visual identification. If your pet doesn’t pull on their lead, it is suitable for your pet as well. If your pet has longer fur, a collar is more comfortable as it reduces hair getting caught up in the collar compared to a harness.
There are both pros and cons to both methods. It depends on your pet’s needs- size, characteristics, and fur type. Ultimately what you need from collar or harness is determined by your pet, and what is most comfortable for them.
